About Bowness Soapworks
Bowness Soapworks is a small handmade soap company located in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Melba Seto is the owner, artisan and adventurer behind the soap. Inspired by her adventures climbing, paddling and foraging, her soaps are designed with the passion and intention of her experiences. Often infused with ingredients picked by hand with the help of her little humans and community, she believes in creating natural soaps with simple and minimal ingredients.
Melba has spent decades honing her handmade and foraging skills and loves to teach others the skills she has acquired through the years. Her love of creating handmade goes back to her childhood, teaching herself to knit, and cook from pictures in books. Her wide range of experiences include being a Lifeguard and Aquatic Instructor for over 20 years, military experience, being hired for the Woods Canada Dream Job as an adventure ambassador, performing in community theatre and in film and theatre.
One of the most important aspects of Bowness Soapworks is to build community through the soaps and most of the bars are created in collaboration with at least one small business. This is to create more value in the things we as consumers spend our money and time on and gives more emotional values and weight to our products and services. When you buy a bar of Bowness Soapworks, you support a whole community of people and organizations.
Melba's passion for the outdoors also means investing in the organizations that work hard to preserve, maintain and conserve our precious outdoor playground. A portion of every sale goes towards organizations like The Association of Bow Valley area Rock Climbers (TABVAR), The Alberta White Water Association and many more.
